Burning climbs, a switchback descent, dizzying single track, and fast fire roads all in the urbansetting of Milwaukee County. The Alterra Team proudly presents a true mountain bike race. Welcome to the Alterra Coffee Bean Classic.

Achallenging five to six-mile lap snakes its way up, down and around the Crystal Ridge Ski Area. Racers get the chance to experience a little of everything, including the "Craters of the Moon" climb, the "Small Intestine" single track, and the "Bonsai" switchback that will keep you hanging on all the way to the bottom of the ski hill.

This venue puts friends and family in perfect position to cheer on their favorite racers all day long. Also, weather permitting, we will again include the new Alpha Trail section. This section adds about another mile of single and double track to the lap length of the racecourse. As most of you know the Alpha Trail makes the race even more exciting. We're always trying to add new elements to increase the overall challenge of the course.

Alterra Coffee Roasters will once again have its coffee bar open to pour the free, locally roasted coffee, whether your preference is hot or cold. Also, our other sponsor, Lakefront Brewery, will have ice-cold beers on tap.

As always the Alterra Team continues its strong tradition of community service. Portions of your entry fee support great causes such as: Free helmets for kids at a local bike rodeo, the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin, and WORBA. We also continue to donate to the development of the Hank Aaron State Trail.

We are planning another fundraiser for the Al Engebretson fund. In addition to our normal donation, the Alterra Team will match any donation made by any racers or team/club.

Please note: If there is severe rain, the race will be rescheduled for Sunday, August 17th. Click on Trail Conditions for any changes to the race course and condition of the trail. You can also call the Metro hotline number for trail conditions (414) 297-9616.
